01/04/2006: "NEW FIREFIGHTERS"
 Two new probationary firefighters were sworn in on December 27th by Judge Paul Paruk. Andy Oleksiak and Mike Wagenschutz were added to the Hamtramck Fire Department's roster, both "boots" were working within a few days of their swearing in.
Andy continues in his father's footsteps: his father Dennis is a current Hamtramck Firefighter Motor Engineer. Mike also continues a family tradition, his father is a fire chief up north and has other family members in various fire services.
The on duty staff attended the swearing-in ceremony and it was attended by members of Mike and Andy's families. Mayor Karen Majewski also attended as well as former Hamtramck Firefighter Gary Sitek.
