Before the state appointed Emergency Financial Manager took control of the city, the Hamtramck Fire Deptartment had staffing levels of 38 personnel - 34 of which were assigned to 'the floor.'

After reducing our numbers to ridiculously low numbers and an outrageous amount of overtime, we are now up to 30 men in fire supression and a fire marshal.

The Hamtramck Fire Department is currently made up of 32 members, currently 30 active members are considered to be firefighting supression personnel and work a 24 hour per day.

They are split into two units, which are broken up into three "kelly's" per unit.

Each unit is commanded by a Captain with two Lieutenants. Each kelly has one of the three officers assigned to that unit.
