September 3, 2003: 6 Hamtramck Firefighters are laid off.

September 1, 2003: Hamtramck Firefighters organize an informational picket at the Hamtramck Labor Day parade. PICS

August 14, 2003: Hamtramck, along with a great deal of the eastern United States is hit by a blackout. Despite low water pressure, a house fire sparked by a candle is extinguised.

July 28, 2003: our website wins an Honorable Mention in the IAFF Media Awards.

December 13, 2002: Hippo's Handicapped Kids, Firefighters entertain and bring Santa in the Aerial Platform.

December 6, 2002: Basketball game versus Hamtramck Police. A stunning win for the Hamtramck Firefighters locked the return of the Guns N' Hoses trophy to the mantle at the Hamtramck Firehouse. Paul Wilk and Bill Diamond were named co-MVPs. All benefits went to The Hamtramck Goodfellows! PICS

April 14, 2002: Hamtramck Moose 1670 and Women's Chapter 2095 in conjuction with Rocky's Baker Streetcar Bar (Moose Member) will hold a fundraiser to help purchase a Thermal Imaging Camera for the Hamtramck Firefighters! Fun Food, beverage specials, balloons, entertainment - you name it!

March 20, 2002: Firefighters Matt Wyszczelski, Rob Scott, John Dropchuk along with Probationary Firefighters Mike Dodd and Steve Jacks participated in Dickinson East Elementary's Annual Reading progam. The Firefighter's joined other guest reader's by reading a book to a classroom.

March 7, 2002: Hamtramck Firefighters fell short in a loss to the 6, 7th & 8th Graders after overcoming a large half time deficit. The Firefighters were led in scoring by Probationary Firefighter Mike 'Hot Rod' Dodd. Others participating were Motor Engineer Bill Diamond, Firefighters Brian Zajac, Matt Wyszcelski, Rob Scott & Mike Crandall and Probationary Firefighter Dave Papandrea.

March 1, 2002: The Hamtramck Firefighters are scheduled to join the Windsor FD's Soup Contest. We'll be making one pot ourselves and a second pot is sponsored by Under The Eagle restaurant. Under The Eagle is located at 9000 Jos. Campau, get directions here!

September 11th Tragedy: Along with the Hamtramck Police, FOP Lodge 109 we've raised over $28,000 for relief of the families of those killed in the World Trade Center Tragedy. We are no longer accepting donations, but you can find other ways to help here

November 2000: The Hamtramck Firefighters participated in the Windsor Firefighter's Chili Fest. The Chili Fest helped raise $13,000 (CAN)! (read more about it here).

On October 10th, the firehouse was open to the public to mark Fire Prevention Week. Tours were given along with demonstrations on fire safety. Hot dogs were donated by Kowalski, pizza by Little Caesars and helium and orange drink from McDonalds. Other sponsor's for this event included Farmer Jack, Metro Bakery and First Alert. Thanks to all those that came and to all our sponsors for their generous donations.

click for bigger pictureOn September 23rd, the Hamtramck Fire Department appeared at 'Preserve Our Parks' 5th Annual Children's Day. Children were given tours and hands-on demonstrations of the Fire Department's apparatus and equipment. Fun was had by the children and firefighters!
