08/30/2005: "SUPPORT MDA LABOR DAY WEEKEND"
![]() This year the Hamtramck Firefighters are aiming to raise $3,000 to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Once again, we will be giving back to our community over Labor Day weekend the Firefighters will be raising funds to support 'Jerry's Kids' at the Hamtramck Festival. At the annual Hamtramck Festival we will be collecting tips in "tip jars" at our usual spot at Jos. Campau and Holmes. Of course, our booth will also feature our world famous chili, beverages, t-shirts and more. (more) Funds raised for MDA will remain local to provide help and hope to families that are affected with one of the 10 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA. They provide payments and repairs on wheelchairs, leg braces and send children to MDA Summer Camp. All of these services are provided at no cost to those that have been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease with help from contributions from you! To add a level of fun and excitement, several local children will ride along on a fire truck at the Labor Day parade and several of the Hamtramck Firefighters will appear on the local segment of the Jerry Lewis-MDA Labor Day Marathon at 5:10 PM on September 5 on Detroit?s WB Channel 20. Firefighters have a long history of supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the lives and families it affects. Please take a moment to drop some spare cash at the Firefighter?s booth when you see them this Labor Day Weekend. Thank you! |
