Every
year, the Hamtramck Firefighters contribute to support
'Hippo's Kids.' On December 10th, we brought Santa to
the annual Christmas Party on the department's aerial
tower truck and helped entertain the kids.

Once
again, the Hamtramck Firefighters got to work at the
Hamtramck Community Center and brought the coveted trophy
back home to the Firehouse. Led by coach Greg McBryar
from the sidelines and by this years MVP Bill Diamond
on the court, the team soared to 13-1 lead at the end
of the first quarter. When the final buzzer rang,
the Firefighters won the game and the trophy, 61-28.
Bill
Diamond led both teams in scoring with 14 points, Dave
Cornwell led the cops with 7 - including two three pointers.
Most
importantly, all funds raised at the game were donated
to the Hamtramck Goodfellows, which again does their
best to provide every needy family with a Holiday meal.
We'd
like to thank Recreation Directer Jennifer Tiedt for
allowing the use of the Community Center along with
her staff (Asim Grgic, MJ Reeves and Nermina Memic)
for assisting in the event, Metro Bakery and all those
for showing up to support the Hamtramck Fire and Police
and Hamtramck Goodfellows.
See
you next year!!

The
Hamtramck Firefighters helped mark Fire Safety Month
by treating two elementary school students to a ride
on the Engine 1 with the Fire Chief Szafarczyk and Senior
Engineer Oleksiak - Firefighter's Dropchuk and Dodd
were also on hand to assist. The girls were chosen based
on their coloring skills on a contest sponsored by the
Hamtramck McDonalds.

Welcome
to HamtramckFirefighters.com, version 4! Our new site
still works best in Microsoft Internet Explorer (avoid
that AOL browser!) and with a resolution of 1024x768.
We'll still be tweaking the look and feel as necessary
and adding a new intro page... if you see any problems,
please let me know by sending me an e-mail at dropchuk@hamtramckfirefighters.com.
This
new look to the site marks the fourth version of the
site since it's inception in 2000. Last year, the site
won an honorable mention in the IAFF Media Awards.

if you ever get "lost" surfing the site, you

The
Pastor of St. Florian Church asked the Hamtramck
Firefighters to hold a special guard over the
tomb of Jesus on Holy Saturday. It's a tradition
in parts of Poland for Firefighters to take this
special watch.
Lt.
Andy Lorio, Lt. Ron Cichecki and Firefighter Bill
Dickens took shifts to maintain the watch over
the tomb.
